We need to talk about Stoke Lodge

One year on – what’s new?

28 June 2023 was a momentous day. That’s when members of the Public Rights of Way and Greens Committee voted, 6:1 and across all parties, that Stoke Lodge should be registered as a village green. Here’s a link to what we posted back then – including our video:

We were genuinely hopeful that registration of our village green would provide a platform for all parties – Cotham School, clubs and local residents – to move forward together, but of course it hasn’t quite worked out that way. While clubs and informal users are happily making use of our village green side by side, Cotham School hasn’t yet returned here for PE lessons, and is challenging the registration in court.

As you’ll know if you’ve been following our updates, there has been a lot going on, on the legal side – it’s been a very eventful year! The latest news is that the hearing is scheduled to take place in early 2025. Although there is a lot going on in the background on various fronts, we are looking forward to a summer of really enjoying our village green together – starting with our one year celebration this weekend!

Do come along if you can – there will be plenty to do and we’ll be around to answer any questions you may have. More details below:
